UPdecors Commonly Used Furniture Fabrics

  1. Cotton

Pure Cotton & Synthetic Cotton: Pure cotton wrinkles easily, is hard to manage, less durable, and prone to fading. However, the cotton used in our furniture is synthetic, offering better durability and manageability.

  2. Linen

The fibrous nature of linen makes it prone to wrinkling and fuzzing, and it is also expensive.

Synthetic linen is more economical and durable.

  3. Velvet

Note: Velvet comes in matte and glossy finishes. Glossy velvet can produce a two-tone effect, looking luxurious under good lighting, though some clients may find the effect unappealing.

  4. Top-Grain Leather

Top-grain leather is the toplayer of cowhide, often referred to as genuine leather. While genuine leather is sourced from rawhide, its irregular shape results in higher waste and costs. Genuine

  5. Microfiber Leather

High-quality microfiber leather on the market today has comparable feel and quality to genuine leather. It is a great option for clients seeking more affordable alternatives.

  6. Oil-Waxed Leather

Oil-waxed leather features a glossy surface and is commonly used in vintage or retro-style furniture.

  7. Nubuck Leather

Nubuck leather is more expensive than genuine leather. True nubuck leather has excellent texture and feel. For budget-conscious customers, there is now a type of nubuck fabric that looks similar from a distance.

  8. Synthetic Leather

Prices vary a lot, choosing a very cheap synthetic leather option may face a issue of fading and aging quickly.

  9. Silk Fabric

Silk fabrics for furniture are usually synthetic because natural silk is expensive and not durable, prone to snags and other issues. Even synthetic silk has its problems, so it is not recommended for large-scale applications but can be used for throw pillows.

Silk products often exhibit uneven stitching at seam lines.

Key Point--- The aesthetics of a product are not solely determined by the craftsmanship.

Fabric color coordination and materialselection are equally important. It is our responsibility to inform our clients about potential issues with certain materials.

  Saddle Leather

Genuine Saddle Leather: Made from raw cowhide, it is wear-resistant, lightweight, and has

  good gloss but is expensive.

Microfiber Saddle Leather: Made from genuine leather fibers and latex fibers, it is mainly waterproof, stain-resistant, eco-friendly, and soft to the touch.

Synthetic Saddle Leather: Made by combining plastic material with a fabric base. It is inexpensive, available in various colors, but has a cheap texture, a plasticky feel, and is prone to aging and discoloration.

Features: Saddle leather is relatively hard but waterproof and stain-resistant. It is usually used in hard-wrapped products and is rarely applied to large soft-covered sofas. Please refer to the image below and keep this material in mind.
